Having an existing ping gives you as much time as possible for the homing to help. Torpedoes home to a distance away from their target, so if you are close they won't have much time to home. If you are close range and trying to launch against an enemy you want to ping (like a Submarine), you should make sure to have a ping active before you launch. You can launch to allow your torpedoes to get close, then ping so they are more surprising while being able to have some homing time to aid their aim. You can launch to allow your torpedoes to spread out, then ping so they converge from multiple angles. There is a commander skill which gives bonus damage if you have a double-ping before you launch a torpedo, but outside of that it's personal preference. You can play a backline-esque role where you act in a more independant fashion to try and surprise enemies. You can use your surface detection glimpse consumable to help spot/ping enemy DD's that use smoke while relying on your DD to prevent anyone from rushing your position. You can play frontline-esque and support an allied Destroyer. ![]() Map Positioning can often take two forms: To my knowledge, there isn't a dedicated Submarine content creator at this time so I don't have a cool YouTube link to provide.
